Hm. So I've got to be honest--as much as I like the idea of Dreamwidth, I think long form content just isn't where I am right now. I tend to drop in and out of conversations, and am less of a creator and more of a consumer in fandom. The art over on Tumblr is pretty and I like to surround myself with things I like (plus, I also tend to really like looking at Zelda, video game & anime art on top of MDZS content), so I think that's where I'll be at mainly. ALSO, side note but in my transition to Tumblr, I totally forgot about tagging reblogs. I know that's hugely important for a lot of folks, so I fixed that!! I felt so silly that I even forgot!

So why am I posting on here? Hah, well since there's only three of you all on here, I just kinda wanted to use this space to organize my thoughts as I continue to work on my story. I've said this time and time again but I'm just a slow writer. It doesn't help that I get overwhelmed very easily time-wise and have an issue with overcommitted and being not so forgiving of myself.

Outside of my day job, I have been extensively learning Japanese by taking night classes. I also had been spending the last month and a half working on an application for a program that'll allow me to move abroad (fingers crossed). Between all of this, I have my writing, reading, and general creative goals. I am very much the kind of person that has to keep a personal planner to plan my very hour, or I won't leave time for me to recoup, relax, and recover.

All this is to say that I made a goal to have this fic published by the end of this year, but we'll see. Either way, I just wanted to organize my thoughts and writing process for myself, so here we go. Cut for your convivence.

Here's a breakdown on what I'm working on:

---Train Fic - This is the fic I want to finish by the end of this year. I don't think it'll be more than 10k, but could be slightly longer since I am currently at 6k and not even halfway through the story yet. This is inspired by my time living in a small mountain village. Wei Wuxian grew up in this small village still lives there as an adult, selling produce out by the train tracks. He runs into Lan Wangji, who had lived in the village for a year when they were both younger. They both had become really close, but Lan Wangji moved away one day without saying a word. He returns to take care of Lan Qiren, who is aging and his family is worried about him living alone. Wei Wuxian dealt with a lot of traumatic events during this gap in time between them and as Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian rekindle their friendship and develop a romantic relationship, they both begin to reveal things from their past.

-I am maybe very VERY loosely inspired by The Gate by Natsume Soseki. Not so much in the content, but in that this a very very quiet, slow, fic where not a lot happens and focuses very heavily on the interpersonal relations of all the different characters.

-I am trying to find this soft happiness in monotony, while still touching on some angsty subjects like grief, loss, self-doubt, and trauma. However, for the most part, the fic is pretty full of fluff.

-Despite focusing very heavily on the environment, I kinda wanted to keep it vague in terms of where it takes place. I am not sure if this was a good decision. I do keep details that matter and add to the story, and have been researching to try to stay consistent of a hand-wavy-vague-location but I don't ever name any location. So, for example I never name the village or nearby villages and cities. I just say "the village" or "the city." Especially since this is just a fanfic I'm writing for fun and for myself. However, I go back and forth sometimes with certain details--I am trying really hard to just write a first draft and let myself edit things in later if I'm really unhappy with something,

-Also is part of this a love letter to my love of trains and public transport???

-I'm at a point the moment where I sometimes feel like what I'm writing is really boring or maybe drags on a little bit, but I am trying to get myself through that hump. TRYING.

--Secret Santa Fic - I think it's ok to admit that I'm participating in the Secret Santa exchange? I won't go into ANY details about what I'm writing, but just putting this on here as something I'm still working on. I hope the person I got will not totally hate my fic hahaha, that's my only goal. But it's coming along! I'm about halfway through that and hope to finish by the end of next weekend.

--Poetry Collection - I'm currently working on a poetry collection. However, a lot of the stuff I've been writing for that is deeply personal and so I've been taking my time with this. I have a concept and outline of everything planned out, but I know this is in the early stages still. I've been in a weird area in my writing. I was inspired for so long and writing a lot, but I think since the traumatic events I've dealt with lately, there's something I want to share, but it's really hard for me to articulate it...

Okay, this was NOT organized at all and I guess it was just me gushing about the fic I'm writing hahaha. But it was kinda nice to lay it out, so I'll just leave it here for now.
